What causes persistent tooth pain and difficulty chewing?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old. I have had a tooth problem for almost a year. The right side of my last two teeth is aching continuously whenever I eat on my right side. So, I stopped eating on that side now. I am using only my left side teeth to eat. The last two teeth have a creamy layer near the gum but the layer is not outside the teeth, it is inside the teeth and I am not able to remove it. Please help, I do not know what it is and I am not able to use that side of my teeth. There is a small gap between my gum and teeth, and a yellow layer starts collecting inside my teeth. Please help me to know what it is and what I have to do to make it stop aching. I do not want to remove my entire teeth.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Well, it looks like there is a formation of calculus in the gum crevices that might also be causing deep pocket formation due to the deepening of bacterial infection in the gum crevices, separating the gum and the tooth. Such infection can progress deeper and can even cause infection in teeth in a retrograde manner. Please get an X-ray done of both teeth and send it to me so that I can tell you how to proceed with the treatment. Do not worry. Your teeth can be saved. Please write back and share the photograph of the X-ray for further discussion and advice.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
