Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I just went to the dentist about two months ago, but even before that I have been experiencing and managing gum pain. My gums just randomly begin to hurt, but after an hour of constant pain, it finally stops and goes away for a week or two. But recently it has been occurring more frequently. I brush twice and floss once a day but sometimes there is blood when I floss. I use a manual toothbrush not an electronic. I really have no idea what is wrong since my dentist gave me a clean bill of health besides the cavities I was having filled. The pain is typically all over my mouth and I feel like it migrates. It starts from the top right side of my mouth and moves down. I have been having these pains now for almost a year. Additionally, the internet suggests that it might be hormonal. Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query,

As per your history, the pain does not look like of any organic cause. Dental pathology may be the source of pain if it is localized in one area. If you wake up from sleep because of pain, it may be localized dental discomfort. Sometimes the pain of impacted third molar does not get appreciated by patient in a specific region and looks like in whole jaw and traveling from one region to another. I suggest you to get an orthopantomogram dental x ray done to rule out the any organic localized cause. Sometimes hormonal changes also make generalized pain in upper and lower dental arch but it is not severe.

Please follow up for further assistances.

Thank you.
