Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 24-year-old female suffering from high DHT levels. As a consequence, I have baldness in the frontal area of my head. Is there anything I could do, like using supplements like shampoos, oils, or serums?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

With your description, it seems like you have androgenetic alopecia, also called female pattern baldness. Treatment depends on the grade of hair loss.

Please attach your clinical picture along with your query so that it is convenient for me to comment on your condition and prescribe you the appropriate medications.

1. Since when do you have this hair loss?

2. Is there a family history of baldness?

3. Was there any illness in the recent past?

Treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia includes,

1. Topical Minoxidil - concentration depends on the grade of alopecia.

2. Oral hair, nail, and skin nutrients pills.

3. Other options, PRP- Platelet-rich plasma therapy.

However, I would like to give you some hair care tips here,

1. Always use lukewarm water for washing hair. Never use hot water.

2. Do not comb when hair is wet.

3. Do not use a hair dryer. Allow it to dry naturally after the bath.

4. Avoid hot iron straighteners. It breaks the protein bond in hair, making hair brittle.

5. Hair is made up of a protein called keratin. You need to take more protein every day, like eggs, fish, curd, milk, lentils, and chicken.

6. Regular exercise for 40 minutes a day, six days a week, to keep the hormonal balance intact.

7. Use a comb that has a wide space between each tooth, and the tip of the tooth should be blunt. Comb gently.

8. Avoid smoking. Nicotine decreases blood supply to the hair roots, affecting hair growth.

9. Avoid tight ponies. It would cause traction on hair, eventually leading to hair fall from the frontal area. Keep the hair loosely tied.

Hope this little piece of information is helpful to you.

Please add your picture for specific medications. I cannot prescribe any medication without seeing your pictures.

Take care.
