Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Occasionally, I have started to have pain in the back of my head (right side). What could be the possible reasons?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
A headache is a common phenomenon that could be due to a tension-type headache or a migraine. The second possibility is a pain in the head because of trauma if there is any history. If the pain is severe and new onset, an NCCT (non-contrast computed tomography) brain is needed. If you have been getting this pain for months or years, then the possibility of a migraine or TTH (a tension-type headache) is high.
I suggest you take Flunarizine as prophylaxis for a few months and Naproxen 500 mg as and when needed. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines with their consent.
Also, an X-ray of the cervical spine needs to be done to rule out cervical spondylosis. Revert with a detailed history, such as duration of illness, site of pain, associated symptoms, and family history, if any.
