Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am wanting to know the side effects of having multiple heart attacks over several years that is 10 heart attacks and 12 stents in the last 14 years. I would like to have something to read about it. I am currently taking Atorvastatin 80 mg, Metoprolol ER 25 mg, Lisinopril 10 mg, Clopidogrel 75 mg.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your case and can well understand your genuine health concern. Heart attacks are caused by a blockage in the coronary arteries that is the arteries supplying blood to the heart. Multiple blocks in the coronary arteries at different places reduce the amount of blood supply to a particular part of the muscles of the heart (myocardium). As a result, the heart muscles become weak. Weakened heart muscles do not contract forcefully during cardiac contraction and hence are not able to pump enough amount of blood in the systemic circulation. This condition results in heart failure, as a result of which there will be less amount of blood in the systemic circulation and low blood pressure. Low blood pressure will cause impairment of blood supply to various organs like brain, kidney, liver, muscles, etc., which results in multiple organ failure and venous congestion in various organs. Also, the chances of repeated attacks increase following the first attack. I hope you understood the consequences of multiple heart attacks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
