How can heart blockages be effectively managed?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The ECG report for my father shows some abnormalities. Please tell me what the actual problem is. His blood pressure is 160/100 mmHg, and he is 65 years old.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You have not attached the ECG (electrocardiogram) report. Please attach it so that I can interpret it. Additionally, for hypertension, he should be on medication to keep his blood pressure below 140/90 mmHg. Please let me know if he is currently receiving antihypertensive medication.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have attached it now. Please see the attachment.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You have only uploaded the report; you should have uploaded the complete ECG (electrocardiogram) as well. Anyway, the doctor has mentioned that there is ST-segment depression in the inferior walls. These changes suggest that there may be some stress on the heart, which could be caused by high blood pressure, blockages in the heart, or sometimes may be present normally. This should be evaluated further.

I would like to review the ECG so I can suggest the next steps. Does he have any symptoms, such as chest heaviness or pain, especially during exertion that are relieved with rest? If so, this could indicate blockages. Considering the report, he should undergo a treadmill test and an echocardiogram to assess heart function. Overall, it does not appear to be a worrisome matter, but it should be evaluated to be certain.

Best wishes.
