Q. Can Metformin and a healthy lifestyle help manage high blood sugar levels in a patient?

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high triglyceridemia three years ago. My current HbA1C is 6.5 percent and triglyceride is 212 mg/dL without any medicine. I work out daily, walk 3.1 mile, and maintain my diet also. But sometimes my fasting glucose is 125 mg/dL and my PP is about 180 mg/dL. Do I need Metformin to balance this fluctuation in glucose level?

But if it is not kept under control, it could lead to diseases. Metformin is definitely the best drug to start off with. One dose of 500 mg a day should be enough to keep you at a safe level. But it is a good idea to meet a doctor in your locality before you start the medication. Any long-term medicine should be prescribed only after a proper clinical examination.
