Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had sex with different massage therapists five times this year. I used condoms every time. Last time, I had sex two months ago, and I had a few symptoms the next month. I had mouth sores, swollen lymph nodes, fever, throat pain, and diarrhea. My HIV test results came negative. I am attaching the test results below for more details. What should I do next? Are the results conclusive? Should I get tested again? Please tell me if there are any specific tests for early detection of HIV.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I completely understand your concerns.
I can understand your anxiety. I appreciate that you used a condom diligently each time. From the attached images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), the fourth-generation test done at 45 days is negative and can be taken as conclusive. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) has a window period(time between exposure to the virus and when a test can reliably detect an infection) of 12 weeks from the last exposure.
I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again in case of further queries.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor for the reply,
I am asking because of curiosity. Are there any other diseases with the same symptoms as HIV?
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The symptoms you have mentioned can be seen in multiple other conditions too. Even routine viral infections can present. However, usually, they settle down with symptomatic management.
I hope this provides some clarity and reassurance.
Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
