Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was engaged in a sexual encounter with a commercial sex worker five months ago. After a week, I found out that she was HIV positive, and now I am concerned if she used her vaginal fluid as lubrication during the encounter. Here are my test results:

  1. Fourteen days: HIV duo test with a value of 0.09.

  2. Eighteen days: HIV RNA PCR Qualitative by Taqman - Non Detected.

  3. Twenty-six days: HIV Viral load RNA PCR Quantitative - TND (too not detected).

  4. Forty-one days: HIV duo CMIA - Non-reactive.

  5. Fifty-two days: CLIA test with a value of 0.12.

  6. Sixty days: SRL lab DUO p24 - Non-reactive.

  7. Seventy-three days: Rapid card test - Non-reactive.

  8. Eighty-two days: Rapid card test initially showed HIV 1 positive, but the same lab performed the test again, which was Non-reactive.

  9. I also took seven company card tests, including Tridot, all showing non-reactive results.

  10. Ninety-six days: CLIA method with a value of 0.11.

  11. One hundred ten days: ELISA at Labcorp lab with a value of 0.26.

  12. RNA PCR VIRAL LOAD result is TND.

I am worried about my 82nd-day test and would like to know my risk and current HIV status. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and understand your concern.

All tests are negative, which means there is no HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). But you went for so many tests just for a handjob when you knew she was HIV positive. Nobody usually uses vaginal fluid as a lubricant, as it is sticky. So do not worry. You are safe.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

My 82-day test showed a positive result, and I am worried about it. Then, I got tested at a lab, and many other places, and all the results returned negative. Can you please explain this discrepancy? Also, can HIV be spread through fluids during a handjob? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

In such a case, confirming it through a western blot test is essential, as it is considered 100 percent accurate.

I hope this helps.
