Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I usually check my blood sugar at home and I have a maid who cleans our home including bathrooms. I am worried that it is her blood that gets spilled and that she is infected. Can I ask my maid if she is HIV positive? I have noticed brown blood during my periods for the last month and worried that I am infected by touching the blood present on a surface and then using the same finger, to prick and test my blood sugar. What are the chances for HIV exposure in this way? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply,

I am also worried that last week I used a public restroom in a marriage function and could not wash my hands as it looked too dirty. I used my hand to shut the door and lock. I thought I would not eat anything, but I had one bite of food with the same hand. Is it possible that I will be infected with polio? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

I have been checking my blood sugar regularly even though I was not diabetic for one year with the help of Accu check test kits from a local pharmacy. I recently had to buy a new kit and found that the meter has a reading from someone else. I am concerned that all the previous test kits I brought were already used and worried that I am at high risk of getting infected with blood-borne diseases. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
