Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My prolactin level is 121 ng/mL, TSH level is 3.67 mU/mL, FSH level is 6.7 mIU/mL, LH level is 5.2 IU/mL, and ferritin level is 15.6 mcg/L. My period flow has reduced from four and a half days to two and a half days over the past year. It occurs due to the medications taken for skin lightening and pigmentation. I have stopped taking it now. I have had knee pain and stress for the past two to three years. What is the reason for my increased prolactin level before marriage? What are the reasons for my hormonal imbalance? Should I take any tests? How to increase my period's flow? My calcium, vitamin D, iron, and vitamin B12 levels are normal, and I do not have bone pain.
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
From the reports attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), you have hyperprolactinemia. Do you have vision problems or headaches? Take an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) pituitary to observe enlargement. I suggest (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her and take medicines with their consent) tablet Cabergoline 0.25 mg twice weekly for four weeks. Repeat the prolactin test after four weeks.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor for the reply,
I do not have a vision problem or headaches. I have recurring knee pain, especially while jogging or running.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Your knee pain is not related to hyperprolactinemia. I suggest tablet Celecoxib 200 mg twice daily for five days if you do not have drug allergies or pregnancy. Apply Diclofenac gel for local pain relief. Take an X-ray of the knee for diagnosis. Consult a physiotherapist for therapy.
