Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am taking medication for high blood pressure: Telmisartanalong with Metoprolol succinate and Rosuvastatin 10 mg. My ECG test shows the following results: QRS duration 126 ms, other parameters are normal, heart rate (BPM) 90, PR interval 130 ms, QT/QTc 346/421 ms.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your QRS duration is mildly prolonged, and this is observed in limited leads. Otherwise, no significant abnormalities are present. This borderline QRS prolongation is likely due to hypertension. These changes are not significant or concerning and are irreversible. They do not require specific treatment. The most important step is to keep your blood pressure under control and manage other risk factors, such as lipid abnormalities.
Maintain a healthy diet and engage in regular exercise. It is advisable to undergo a routine echocardiogram (echo) to assess the current condition of your heart. In summary, there are minor hypertension-related changes that are not worrisome and require no specific treatment. However, it is crucial to control risk factors like hypertension and lipid abnormalities.
Thanks and regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Last year, my QRS duration was 116 ms. I tend to overthink things in general.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
This is a minor variation, which may also be due to artifacts or a change in the machine. In any case, there is nothing to worry about. It will not cause any harm to you at present. Try not to stress about it.
Thanks and regards.
