Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had I-pill on the next day of my sex, but now there is bleeding on the eighth day. What does that mean? Am I pregnant or not?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you have taken the emergency pill within 72 hours of intercourse, there is no chance of pregnancy. This is withdrawal bleeding because of hormonal changes due to the pill you have taken. So, relax and do not worry. However, if you have a doubt then get back to me.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

But the bleeding is brown and somewhat blackish. So, do I need to worry about it and for how many days will it continue? I had sex on the fifth day of my periods with the precaution. So, please help me out.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, this is withdrawal bleeding and that is why the brownish color. There is nothing to worry about. You may experience this for at least a week. There is no chance of pregnancy. So, relax and do not worry. However, if you have a doubt then get yourself checked by a gynecologist and get a pelvic scan done. Do get back to me with reports so that I can guide you further.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

If the bleeding stops before then also is it fine? My date has started on the 5th last month and got over on 9th. So, now I am on pill mode right? After this, my next date will also change, right?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There will be slight variation in your next period date and not a major change. A week's change is what you can expect. But, you will definitely get your periods. So, relax and do not worry. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
