Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been trying to get pregnant for the past two years, but my gynecologist is not prescribing me Clomifene because of my thyroid issues. However, I am taking medication for that. What is the cause of my infertility?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Thyroid abnormalities can be the cause of menstrual irregularities, menorrhagia, polymenorrhea, miscarriages, infertility, congenital anomalies, etc.

I suggest you follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Have strict control over thyroid levels and try your best to have the same normal level of thyroid.
  2. Have folic acid daily, 5 mg.
  3. Try to have normal regular cycles. If your cycles are irregular, you can have combined oral contraceptive pills for two to three months to regulate your cycles, but you will not be able to conceive while taking these medications.
  4. Exercise regularly and maintain a normal body mass index (BMI) and weight.
  5. Try to quit recreational drugs if you and your partner have regular rational activities.
  6. Have sex during the fertile periods of your cycle.
  7. Consume diet with less salt, sugar, and spice.
  8. Have a complete check-up and treatment of any health issue for you and your partner.
  9. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
