What is the reason for the burning sensation in the glans penis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello,

I have a burning sensation in the glans penis, irritating my urethra. STD and UTI came back negative. I have a red foreskin, and two spots appear. Also, some sores under the penis head. I have attached pictures.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern and have reviewed your query and pictures (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It is difficult to identify the exact pathology without a clinical exam. I would like to know whether you have had any recent unprotected sexual contact. I feel it is either an allergic reaction or inflammation of the glans. Both are self-limiting and need just supportive therapy for resolution. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist or urologist for a detailed clinical examination which helps to identify the pathology better.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
