Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a red and slightly inflamed area on my top lip. It has been there for three to four days and it does not seem to go away. I do not think it is a cold sore as I have never got one and has not gotten any bigger. Please, can I have some advice on what to put? I have attached a few pictures.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the photos (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

I request you to kindly upload a few more good quality slightly close-up images so that I am able to have a better look. A cold sore usually presents with a grape-like cluster of fluid-filled vesicles. Do you have any associated symptoms like itching, tingling, or pain?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Zero symptoms just feel a bit dry and feel like I need to apply lip ice all the time. A few more pics attached as you can see it is just a bit red.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Perhaps it is just ingrown hair due to close shaving. I suggest you apply a triple antibiotic ointment like Neosporin (Bacitracin Topical, Neomycin, Polymyxin B) ointment twice daily.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
