Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Some insects bit me and I have got an infection because of scratching it and now my lower leg is completely filled with these bumps with pus in some of them. I have been prescribed antibiotics and allergy medication as well as an ointment. Is there anything else that could be done? It is most likely an ant bite which got worse after I scratched it.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

IgE (immunoglobulin E) is raised, this indicates allergic infection or parasitic infection. ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) is raised so chronic infection. Is there fever? Stomachache? History of hives? Allergic dermatitis? Atopy? Aggravation factors? Insect bite reaction? Is there oozing, burning, or pain? Use Fucibet cream (Fusidic acid + Betamethasone) twice daily for seven days, along with the prescribed treatment Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) and T-bact. Clean with Povidone iodine and normal saline with gauze piece.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Nothing except there was burning on the first day then after using the ointment that went away. My foot is swollen and walking is slightly painful but this has never happened before. I am someone who has an allergy to dust but other than that everything is normal. My prescribed antibiotics are about to get over (tomorrow is the last day) so after that is over anything else to be done or to only continue the ointments. And should the area be left open or always covered? I have attached a photo of what it looks like since I started medication.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do not cover the lesions. Continue Allegra (Fexofenadine Hydrochloride) tablet, T-bact, and Fucibet cream. Add tablet Zifi (Cefixime) 200 mg twice daily for five days. Or instead of Allegra, you can take Atarax (Hydroxyzine dihydrochloride) 10 mg thrice daily for seven days. Rest continue the topical creams. Do you have a stomach ache? History of parasitic infection? Fever?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

No stomach ache, or fever. No parasitic infection history either. No other symptoms other than the lesions on skin and swelling and discomfort when walking. Are the lesions showing signs of improvement? How do I exactly know that it is healing? Would there be a change in color or something like that? Because it is not increasing it is just flattening now and turning this color. It is on both legs right and left in a similar pattern. I have uploaded more pictures to show it.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have attached the pictures (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Lesions have improved with the treatment taken before (antibiotics course and topical treatment). It will take a few weeks to clear it up. Take tablet Emanzen D (Serratiopeptidase with Diclofenac sodium) twice daily for three days (if painful). Calosoft lotion after bath for 10 days (if burning). Take the above mentioned treatment and the lesions will heal in one to two weeks. Take antiseptic precautions. Do not scratch or rub, pop, or prick the lesions because scratching can cause secondary bacterial infection.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
