Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I suffer from anger issues. I have been behaving violently with my parents. And I have a huge ego. I overthink a lot, and I am under continuous stress for a couple of days. I feel like I want to cry and talk to someone who can understand and guide me to a better life.
My parents have noticed my violent behaviour towards them and often suggest me to consult a psychiatrist. I have huge ego issues, and I feel superior to people around me. I have trouble having a smooth relationship with my friends, too.
I have completed my graduation, and now I am under continuous pressure as to what I should do next. Things are vague to me. I am so numb towards others' feelings and mine, too. I sometimes feel I do not react correctly to things.
I cannot even understand my own emotions. I am happy for a while, and I suddenly change my mood over thinking about something, and I am sad and jealous all day.
I have been having these issues for three years. But I think it is high time I take medical help. I know some things are not right with my mental well-being.
I do not take any medications right now. I have not discussed this with anyone before.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
First of all, work on how to prevent yourself from acting out during the anger episodes. Whenever you feel like getting angry, either do reverse counting from 20 to zero or breathe deeply from your diaphragm.
After calming down a little, give hard logic to yourself if this is going to help. Meditating daily for at least half an hour in the morning helps. You can also go for mindfulness.
Share your feelings with family or close friends, as sharing helps a lot. In my opinion, a detailed evaluation from a psychiatrist is needed to find the root cause of the problem, and a proper solution can then be planned accordingly.
Kindly consult a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist in person for the same. Remember, every problem has a solution; you just need to try solving it, and help is just a step away.
I hope this helps.
Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
