How do I confirm jaundice?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 37 year old male. I did my medical test two days before. My liver function test reports are not good. Do I have jaundice? But I do not feel any symptoms. Do I need any further tests?

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Yes, you do have jaundice. But the level of jaundice is mild. It can occur due to any viral infection. There are two options:- Wait for 6 weeks and repeat LFT or straight away get further testing to know the cause of jaundice. Either way is fine but, I recommend the first option.

Your LDL cholesterol level is high. You require a medicine called Roseday (Rosuvastatin) 10 mg every night for at least 3 months to control cholesterol. But you can start once your liver status has been resolved.

Thank you.
