Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with ringworm for the past five months. It has affected areas such as my toes, stomach, the area between my thighs, back, and behind my ears. I am an 18-and-a-half-year-old girl. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Based on your description, it appears that you have tinea cruris et corporis et faciei, which is a fungal infection affecting the groin, body, and face. Here are some general measures to follow:

  1. Keep the affected area dry. Avoid moisture accumulation.

  2. Use clotrimazole powder frequently to maintain dryness.

  3. Refrain from scratching or itching the affected areas.

  4. Change your undergarments regularly.

  5. Avoid excessive sweating and wearing wet clothes.

  6. Avoid applying general or steroid creams like Betnovate.

It is important to continue the medication even after the infection clears to ensure complete eradication of the fungus. Consider checking for diabetes and thyroid conditions if the infection recurs despite proper treatment. I suggest you to apply cream Ketoconazole 2% twice daily and taking tablet Terbinafine 250 mg for three weeks. It is advisable to consult your general practitioner or a nearby dermatologist for a proper evaluation and the best possible treatment. If possible, provide a picture for a more accurate assessment.

Thank you.
