Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

One month ago, I had a pimple on my cheek. I scratched it due to itching. And after it almost started to harden I again scratched it. Now it has become an outgrowth like structure and looking bad after shaving. Kindly give a suitable medication for this.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Although the photograph (attachment removed to protect patient identity) is not clear enough to distinguish from a wart or keloid, from your history it seems to be a keloid from a pimple you scratched. The prognosis of the keloid is often unpredictable, but quite often they will subside over a few months. There are certain treatment options for keloid although none are perfectively effective. This includes injection of steroids in the keloid or laser therapy. Avoid scratching and picking of pimples to prevent further keloid formation. If it does not cause many problems you can wait for a few months, most probably it will subside. Otherwise, you can consult a nearby dermatologist for the treatment options mentioned above. No topical cream is effective for this case.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
