Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A few days back, I took two pregnancy tests, and the results were negative. I took the tests because I had a light period lasting only two days last month. And this month also, I am experiencing very light periods, and I am extremely anxious, fearing pregnancy. Should I do one more pregnancy test, or could it possibly be light periods due to stress or PCOS?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for trusting us with your health care.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. Menstrual irregularities, in your case, could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). PCOS is an endocrinal disorder in which hormonal imbalance will be there due to cysts in the ovary.Facial hair growth and weight gain will be there. As it is a lifestyle disease, you have to change your lifestyle, eat a high-protein diet with lots of vegetables and fruits and exercise regularly. Get your hemoglobin, HbA1c (glycated haemoglobin) and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels checked. No need to worry about it and take Progesterone for withdrawal bleeding.

I hope you find this answer helpful.

Good luck.

Regards.
