Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 15 years old and have been having a light brownish discharge and feeling nauseous since yesterday. It is very unusual because I usually have a heavy flow. Can you please help?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Menstrual irregularities, in your case, could be due to hormonal imbalances caused by PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). PCOS is an endocrinal disorder in which hormonal imbalances are there due to cysts in the ovaries, facial hair growth, and weight gain may also be there. As it is a lifestyle disease, you have to change your lifestyle. Eat a high-protein diet with lots of vegetables and fruits and exercise regularly. Check your hemoglobin, HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin), and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels. No need to worry about it, and I suggest you can take progesterone for withdrawal bleeding. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
