Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Two years ago, I had a fall from the bike, which resulted in bleeding from one of my ears and blood vomit. I was kept in intensive care unit (ICU) under observation for two days. After that incident, I had developed a small lump on the back of my head. It used to hurt a little when I touch. Since a few months, it has been getting bigger and very painful even when it is not being touched or disturbed. I feel very dizzy, and my hands feel very weak even after I finish combing my hair because that lump gets disturbed due to the comb passing over it. I have consulted three different doctors so far, and all of them says that it is nothing. But, the changes are happening in the last six months only.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand your symptoms. If the lump is getting bigger now, then it is very significant. The symptoms which you said, can bebecause of the brain fluid getting collected in the lump and so, less fluid in the skull. I would advise you to get a computed tomography (CT) scan brain with very thin cut reconstruction. In this particular situation, we want to know whether there is a defect in your skull below the lump and the scan will show it. The further treatment depends on whether there is a defect or not in the skull. Meanwhile, for pain, I suggest you tablet Paracetamol 650 mg as and when required for the pain. Do not take more than four tablets in one day.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your diagnosis. I am also having severe pain in my ear sometimes and for which I went to an ear nose and throat (ENT). He inserted a sharp object into my ear to remove wax accumulation, and after that process, I get severe pain in my ears. Also, there is a feeling of hollowness in my ears all the time.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I feel both your vertigo and ear pain are related to the injury of the bone. I need to confirm this with scan reports. I understand that these are irritating symptoms. But, the sad part is that there is no definitive treatment for them. We can give you the treatment to reduce your symptoms. Tablet Paracetamol, which I suggested earlier will work for this also as both are pain symptoms. You can get an ear examination again at ear nose and throat (ENT) doctor's office to make sure that there is no other problem in the ear.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
