Can braces correct malaligned upper teeth with gaps?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My upper teeth are slightly malaligned and have gaps in them. I visited the dentist. After the X-ray, he said braces will be used to correct the jaws and the result will be visible, that is up to three millimeter.

Please help,

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your age is ideal for orthodontic treatment. If you will delay further then treatment will take more time to complete so it is better to start with it sooner. If you have a gummy smile and three millimeter (mm) of gum line will be visible after treatment, that is fine too. People look younger with a gummy smile, but you have to properly maintain your oral hygiene then.

I hope this is clear, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Do follow up whenever needed.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
