Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 19-year-old second-year MBBS student. I have been suffering from central headaches for the past two years. It is progressing in frequency and intensity. It increases bending, sneezing, and straining. It is mild to moderate in intensity and occurs almost four days a week. My doctor advised a CT scan and it is normal except for a mucosal polyp in the left maxillary sinus. What could be the diagnosis?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is chronic maxillary sinusitis secondary to mucosal polyp and so go for a CT paranasal sinus. It will tell about the dimensions of mucosal polyp and its operability. Till then, I suggest you the following medicines. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicines with consent.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
The polyp measures 17 x 13 mm. Does it require intervention?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Yes, that will require intervention. But, before any sinus surgery, I would recommend you to take tablet Wysolone (Prednisolone) 15 mg daily for five days and thereafter we can see for improvement. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, take the medicine with consent and get the appropriate advice.
