Following IUI, when can I test for pregnancy?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My last period was on the 26th of last month. I had IUI on 7th evening and 8th morning of this month. When can I test for pregnancy?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Was it ultrasound monitored? What was the size of the follicle on the 7th? You can test your urine for pregnancy after 15 to 18 days of IUI. Blood hCG hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin) can be done after 15 days, which will be more predictive.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, ultrasound scan was done. Yesterday, I tested using a home pregnancy kit, but it gave negative result. Is it too early to test now? The follicle size was something like 18 x 21. I have taken injection for ovulation on 6th of this month.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Tomorrow, you can check your hCG hormone, which is more reliable. I think it is too early to be detected in urine. Hope you are convinced.
