Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Actually, I get my periods once in 40 days for one month and within 28 days the other month. It is continuing for a long time. Previously, I had one miscarriage and vaginal infection. Currently, I am on Folinal. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Periods can be irregular. It can be normal. When periods are irregular than there could be two problems. One is difficulty in getting pregnant, and second is more bleeding and the variance cyst. Do FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), prolactin level, estrogen, progesterone, serum TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), andone ultrasound scan. All these investigations to find out anything abnormal. If anything is found then treatment can be given, or you may require treatment if you want to conceive. If everything is found normal and you also do not want to conceive now then there is no need to take any treatment now. Do drink more water. You can elaborate on other problems if you have.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

What is the reason for my irregular period?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I advised all the tests to find the reason only. There can be hormonal problems, ovarian cyst, anovulation, stress, weight gain, diabetes, other medicines, even natural cycle. Number of reasons are there. We need to rule out all other step by step to come to the conclusion that whether it is due to natural cycle or some problem. To find out the reason we need to do some tests on the first step. There are other investigations also but need to do all these tests first which I mentioned earlier like FSH and all. If some problems are found in any of these investigations then I will have to start treatment according to the report, or may have to investigate further to find out the cause.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
