This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from headaches frequently. They usually last for two to three days. I am taking Sibelium 10 mg tablets since a long time. I also observe a swelling on my face and stiffness and heaviness around my eyes during the event of a headache. I am unable to lead a normal life. When I take Sibelium, the frequency of the headaches get reduced. What is the permanent solution?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your post. You are suffering from a migraine and your symptoms are caused by it.

  • If you have a family history of the same illness, then Sibelium (Flunarizine) alone will not control the attacks and you will need another prophylactic drug. I would suggest taking Propranolol 20 mg twice daily and increasing the dose gradually.
  • The two drugs may decrease the frequency and severity of the attacks and after taking it for six months, you may possibly be able to stop it permanently. Some people may need prophylaxis for years.

Regards.
