Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My teeth do not align and my lips do not close naturally. My chin bone is too short. So I consulted with a maxillofacial surgeon, who suggested jawline correction surgery to fix my issues as these issues can not be fixed with braces alone. Should I do it or are there any other alternatives?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
According to your query, all I can understand is that you certainly need orthognathic surgery rather than orthodontic treatment. Though these procedures seem to be cumbersome, they can give you a permanent solution to your problems. But it would help if you get a proper physical examination with NCCT (non-contrast computerized tomography) with 3-D reconstruction to conclude. Kindly consult a maxillofacial or plastic surgeon for the same.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I consulted a maxillofacial surgeon physically. He suggested those surgeries along with braces for six months. I just needed a second opinion before proceeding. Someone also suggested I consult an orthodontist before the surgery for a second opinion, which I am considering doing soon. If I go through those surgeries, will there be any complications in the future? Or can I function normally after the recovery?
Thank you.
