Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from lumbosacral pain. It started with stiffness followed by two back muscle tear episodes. Took Myoril and painkillers. My X-rays look normal. I still have stiffness in my middle back and can not stand for more than 10 minutes. I have acute pain on both sides. Also, while sitting, I have pain in my tailbone. There is no radiating pain in the legs while walking. I have had pain in my left shin for two to three days. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I suggest avoiding lifting weights and arching your back - instead, bending your knees to lift something from the floor. Avoid sitting for long hours. Avoid the use of two-wheelers and improve your posture while sitting. Take a break from your walk every 20 minutes and sit on a chair with good back support. Do not get up suddenly after sleeping; instead, turn to the side and try to get up. I suggest you take bed rest in case of severe pain. Take hot fermentation in the affected area if required. I suggest you take the following:

1. Apply Oxalgin gel (Diclofenac 50 mg Paracetamol 325 mg) twice daily on the affected area.

2. Tablet Pregabalin 75 mg, once daily in the night before food.

3. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily after food for 10 days.

4. Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily before food for 10 days.

5. Tablet Shelcal (Calcium 500 mg) twice daily before food for 30 days.

6. Tablet Vitamin D (60k units) once daily for 10 days, followed by once a month for 11 months.

Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly. Do physiotherapy, Mckenzie exercises, back strengthening exercises, back core strengthening exercises, glutei strengthening exercises, and passive straight leg raising exercises. These exercises can be started once the pain reduces. Regular exercise can help you get good results. Activities like swimming, yoga, and walking can be beneficial. Jogging, running and weight lifting can aggravate back pain.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
