Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have twitching in my right triceps all day and night for a year. I also have it all over by mostly right triceps. I am on Pravastatin Sodium for high cholesterol and Amlodipine Besylate for high blood pressure. I stopped taking those temporary to see if my twitching would go away. It did not. I have been taking Vitamin B12, Calcium, and Magnesium supplements. I drink two liters of water. I still have the twitching. I had an EMG done four months ago and was told I had an issue with my right triceps but no other issue. My right shoulder down to my right foot was tested. I still have not received a follow-up from my neurologist about the test. I also had an MRI done, and several blood tests, and everything was normal. Kindly help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms could be related to a pinched nerve or a possible bulging disc in the cervical vertebral column. Have you performed a cervical spine MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)? I would like to directly review its results if you could upload them here.

Another possible cause to consider would be a traumatic injury of the triceps muscle. Do you have any history of trauma in this region?

Regarding treatment, Clonazepam can help reduce muscle twitching.

I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

I have not had a cervical spine MRI but will set one up with my primary care doctor. It may take weeks before they can see me and then another few weeks to talk to my doctor to get the results because I have to make an appointment to talk to her, and it takes a while when she can actually see me after the appointment is made. I do not have any history of trauma to my triceps muscle. I do a lot of work on the computer, extending my right hand to use the mouse pointer, and maybe the triceps is strained because of that but not sure. Also, I was prescribed Methocarbamol for the twitching six months ago, but it did not work. I will see if I also can get Clonazepam from my doctor. Kindly guide me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

For additional information, muscle straining during your job may trigger muscle twitching in this region too. I remain at your disposal in case you upload your MRI report for a second opinion or any other questions.

I hope this was helpful.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
