Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For almost two months, I have been having widespread fasciculations. It started from my right arm and became widespread. After some time, I began to notice that my right shoulder and knee started to get fatigued quickly. I have visited my primary doctor so many times until I was given a referral for an electromyography (EMG). My EMG test was clean, no form of denervation was noticed, and the neurologist diagnosed my fasciculations as benign. But now, my muscle twitching has become worse. Currently, I am getting constant twitching in my right biceps, and it occurs consistently without breaks. I have sleepless nights. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We are elated to have you onboard at icliniq.

I reviewed your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), and I am glad to confirm that we can exclude any possible motor neuron disease, neuropathy, or muscle disorder. I recommend you check your vitamin D and plasma levels for possible deficiency, along with thyroid hormone levels to rule out possible thyroid gland dysfunction. Possible treatment options would be Clonazepam which helps reduce muscle twitching and can also help calm down your anxiety. You should discuss with your doctor the above tests and treatment options.

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need me.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

The constant twitching on my right bicep has reduced but I still have the widespread twitching. I noticed that my arm feels fatigued when I perform some activities. Also, my right hand has a different sensation when compared to the left. I had a blood test done to check the levels of vitamins D and B12, and they all came out fine. I have only done the blood test and electromyography (EMG)/NCV (nerve conduction velocity) test. Thank you for the positive message. It really made me stable.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Glad to have you back.

I am glad that you are feeling better. In my opinion, your situation is not concerning (benign fasciculation syndrome) as all the test results are normal. I recommend you practice yoga. I also suggest you take the tablet Clonazepam at a low dose after consulting with your physician and gradually increase the dose if tolerated until fasciculations stop.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask me again.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
