Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 19 years old. The power of both my eyes is -12.00. It is even higher than my mom's. Is this common, and is it very high? I saw the eye doctor, and he said my eyes were healthy, but the high prescription is worrying. I do not believe I see anything different other than some floaters when I turn my head sometimes. I am afraid I will suffer from a retinal tear at some point. How rare is that for someone with my kind of eyes? Could it just happen anytime? How safe am I from something like that?
Please reply.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
You seem to have high myopia. This high error is not common. If you have a complaint about floaters, then consult a vitreoretinal expert. He will also rule out any retinal tears. I must advise you to keep getting your eyes checked every six months or so. Do not engage in chronic weightlifting works like going to a gym. You can occasionally lift objects which is fine, but not chronically on a daily basis. I hope this helps.
