Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female with height of 5'7" and weight 120 pounds. Every few days, I have been having a hard time in breathing through my nose. I sound congested, and end up blowing out a considerable chunk dark in color. It is the the same for the past six months, or so. I have not been able to breathe through my nose very well. And while sleeping, I have to sleep with my mouth open to breath. Why is this happening? And what is going on in my nose?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We have to rule out any organic lesion in the nose as that can cause difficulty in breathing through the nose. The deviated nasal septum, polyp (edematous mucosa), etc., can be a possibility. I suggest you rhinoscopy nose examination first to rule out above lesion. The second possibility could be inflammation in nasal mucosa leading to enlarged turbinate which causes difficulty in breathing through the nose.

You can take Levocetirizine 5 mg once a day for a week. Take one teaspoon turmeric powder with milk daily. Steam inhalation with warm water three times a day can be beneficial. I suggest you consult otorhinolaryngologist for your rhinoscopy nose examination and further management. I hope I have answered your question. I will help you further if needed.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
