Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have 8-week-old baby. Initially, I had inverted nipples, so I could not breastfeed my baby. In addition, I have a good milk supply, and I am expressing and feeding the baby. However, my nipples have become fine due to pumping, so I want to switch to breastfeeding. Also, I consulted a lactation counselor in the past. So is it possible to switch now, or is it too late? If it is possible, can you give me a few tips?
Kindly give me your suggestions.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
1. Yes, you can switch over to direct breastfeeding.
2. Make sure the baby latches the mouth to the breast properly.
3. Hold the baby and be seated in a comfortable position.
4. Initially, there will be discomfort for you and the baby. However, the baby might get frustrated as it requires coordinated efforts by both, so do not give up; keep trying.
5. You can check on the internet on " how to breastfeed" as there are various positions.
6. I am sure you will succeed in breastfeeding and it will be the best effort made by you for the baby.
I hope this was helpful.
Take care.
