Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 26 year old male non smoker and social drinker experiencing numbness in half of the face and just below the left jaw bone. There is no numbness or facial droop anywhere else in the body. Trying to prevent an emergency room. I have a history of anxiety disorder, panic attacks, gastroesophageal reflux disease, slurred speech, and no other conditions.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Since when you are having jaw numbness? Do you have any neck pain or history of neck trauma? Considering overall picture, it was unlikely to be a stroke. Firstly, it is less common for one to have stroke at this age group, and with less of risk factors. Also, it is rare to have involvement of only small part of jaw, and usually it is not on and off pattern rather a sudden onset presentation. However, we cannot be very sure just on history and examination is necessary to rule it out. So, it is unlikely to be a stroke but better if you can visit local doctor for examination part.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

This is likely related to cervical issues due to nerve compression. Did you get yourself evaluated for cervical causes like X ray neck or magnetic resonance imaging. May I know your weight?

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Is there anything that you would suggest to ease the discomfort until I can get evaluated?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If Tylenol is not helpful then you may take prescribed another anti-inflammatory medicines like Ibuprofen 400 mg or Naproxen 250 mg, whenever needed up to two times per day along with some antacids like Pantoprazole 40 mg once a day before breakfast. Meanwhile, you may get prescribed nerve vitamin like Neurobion forte (Calcium pentothenate, Cyanocobalamin, Nicotinomide, Pyroxidoxine hydrocholride, Riboflavin, and Thiamine mononitrate) once a day for two weeks. Further, if these are not helping then you will need nerve stabilizer like Pregabalin.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
