Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old male. I had risky oral sex with three partners, but I wore a condom for each of my partners. A day after my last sexual intercourse, I experienced a fever, chills, and bacterial tonsillitis, where I had white pus around my inflamed tonsils. All of those symptoms completely went away in a week. Do you think it was HIV that caused those symptoms? I was also taking Vistaril, but I took about 200 mg on the same day, and it says that it can cause fever-like symptoms. And that bacterial tonsillitis was a common illness in my area as I checked the frequency of that disease and my symptoms in my room. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

As you have protected sex for each, there is no way it can be HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. Tonsillitis is seasonal, and you are tested for it. Cold and flu - it is not due to HIV; no cure is achieved so fast it lingers for long periods. So do not worry. Nothing is wrong.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
