Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got a massage a few months ago. The masseuse gave me a blowjob without a condom. I went to the hospital four days later with a urinary tract infection. I was given IV antibiotics for three days and antibiotic tablets for two weeks. There was no testing done for STDs. Do I need to be worried about HIV? I only got UTI symptoms for around six to seven days.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Unprotected sexual exposure is a risk factor for a variety of diseases and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), including HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). Oral sex, on the other hand, has a low risk of HIV transmission. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) does not classify it as high-risk. Other diseases, like herpes, syphilis, and warts, can spread through this method. As there was only oral sex in your case, you would not require an HIV test. However, always use a condom.

I hope this information will help you.Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Based on the UTI, the attending physician at the hospital stated that you had so many antibiotics that they would kill gonorrhea and chlamydia. The doctor informed me that the UTI was serious, that I most likely had it, and that the oral sex pushed it into the urethra. Is it true that if I had herpes, it would have already shown itself?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Whatever your thinking is, it is entirely right. All STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) have a brief incubation period before exhibiting clinical symptoms, for example, herpes is five to seven days after exposure, syphilis is 90 days, gonorrhea or chlamydia is within one week, and so on. As a result, there is no reason to fear as long as there is no additional unprotected exposure. Use a condom for any future exposures and attempt to remain with a single partner.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
