Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old male suffering from panic and anxiety attacks for about six to seven months. Whenever I feel nervous due to any simple reason, I start sweating and panicking. I was fine for about one and a half months, but I started suffering again from the past two days. This attack happens whenever I am idle or getting bored. I have not consulted any psychiatrist yet and am not on any medication.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Panic attacks and generalized anxiety disorder are very common, and around 15 to 20 percent of people suffer from these problems. You should consult a local psychiatrist who will prescribe you SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) such as: tablet Sertraline (Sertraline Hydrochloride) 50 mg, a low dose of tablet Propranolol 20 mg, and Benzodiazepine such as tablet Clonazepam 0.25 mg for a few days. The doctor will stop the Propranolol and Benzodiazepines after a month. The SSRI will usually be continued for three to four months and tapered off. This medicine will replenish the neurotransmitter that is low in this disorder, such as Serotonin, and will help you with your problem. Also, it would help if you considered doing some deep breathing exercises, yoga, meditation, or relaxation exercises.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
