Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have PCOS, and I got pregnant with it. I am at five weeks and four days of my pregnancy. My doctor has given me folic acid, Glucophage, Duphaston, Estranor, and Loprin, along with weekly injections of Ivf-C 5000 and Gravidol. I want to know how long I would have to take these medicines and when I would be relaxed that my pregnancy is safe. What are the complications with PCOS in pregnancy, and should I try to lose weight now?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I understand your concern.

These medicines are progesterone based, which is required for maintaining the pregnancy. In pregnancy, progesterone is mainly secreted by the placenta, so at 12 to 14 weeks placenta is completely formed. After that, you can stop these medicines with the advice of your consulting gynecologist. You can continue taking iron tablets for nine months. To lose weight, you should do diet modification, do light exercise, and walk daily. Consult a specialist doctor and take medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
