Patient's Query

Hello Doctor,

I have recently become very concerned about something that has been bothering my parents for a long time. I happened to notice my reserved attitude toward others. However, my parents described me as a happy child who enjoyed communicating with others, going out frequently, hugging and being hugged. Although I do not remember much of my childhood, I do recall having fights with my friends, breaking up with them, and feeling lonely and sad. I am concerned that this could be a case of multiple personality disorder. I also have a history of vegetative dystonia and anxiety attacks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Temperament in children is influenced by a variety of external factors as well as parental upbringing. It varies during early childhood but becomes consistent by the time the child reaches the eleventh or twelfth grade. Being an introvert is completely normal. It is a personality type that does not require any type of psychological treatment. Furthermore, an individual's personality is fixed and cannot be changed. It should be addressed only when it is pathological.
