Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a white patch on my tongue, a red patch in my throat, swollen lymph nodes, a burning sensation on my tongue, and difficulty swallowing. Previously also I have had a red patch on my tongue. I am pretty sure that I have undiagnosed herpes. Currently, I am on antidepressants. What can be the reason for my symptoms?

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the attached pictures (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It is a throat infection. The lymph nodes are swollen due to infection. The red patch is due to inflammation in the oral cavity, and the white patch is a side effect of medications. I suggest you continue taking the medications and do warm saline rinses. Also, you can take the tablet Augmentin 625 mg (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid) twice a day for five days if you are not allergic to penicillin. (Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and start the medicine with their consent).

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
