Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was told that my placenta was 1.3 cm away from the cervix, which was diagnosed after finding blood in my cervix. I am 31 weeks pregnant with no medication or help. I have been having severe pains in my pelvic area down to my vagina, and I cannot move around in any way possible.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query, a history of bleeding around 30 weeks with the low-lying placenta and abdominal cramps is alarming. Placenta, if found within two cm of the internal cervical os, is considered a low-lying placenta. The low-lying placenta is extremely dangerous if it covers the internal os and has a higher chance of bleeding. Minor bleeding can be proceeded by heavy life-threatening bleeding. You have to have restricted movements and activities as there are chances of bleeding anytime. If you are experiencing other symptoms or problems like high blood pressure, or diabetes, it needs to be checked and treated completely. If this is your first pregnancy, you might not know about the normal body changes for labor preparation. You might have mild irritation at the lower abdomen but better differentiate it from labor pain that comes from the back to the lower abdomen and gradually increases in intensity. You should check for bloody vaginal discharge, dizziness, fainting, or reduced baby movements and report to the hospital in an emergency.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
