Q. How to prevent the frequent precum or unpleasant wet dreams?

Hi doctor,

I am 17 years old with a height of 5 feet 94 inches and a weight of 63.5 kg. I am familiar to precum or wet dreams at night but less frequently. I have had excess precum for the past two weeks during sleep without dreams. Last night I have had two wet dreams and it is irritating me. This issue started suddenly and it is very frequent and unpleasant.

Wet dreams or nightfall are called nocturnal emission and is normal. It can be exceeded due to increased erotic stimulus mentally, physically, or visually without sex or masturbation. At this age, you will have good testosterone production. There will be 20,000 sperms produced every minute, that is a lot of semen production, and you need to let it out by masturbation or sex. If not, it will come out on its own when you are relaxed during sleep. As you know the cause treatment is easy. Follow the below steps;

1. Limit the intake of caffeinated beverages and foods before bedtime as it stimulates the brain and causes erotic dreams.

2. Take a cold shower before bedtime. This decreases the excessive sensitivity in the genital region.

3. Control your stress levels to obtain a peaceful sleep. Stress can be a triggering factor to anything and everything.

4. Avoid sleeping on your back or stomach. These positions are known to cause sleep orgasms. Better sleep on your side.

5. Exercise regularly to keep your body and mind relaxed. Excessive tension, anxiety, and body tiredness elevate your sleep orgasms.

6. Avoid watching and reading erotic content at night. These stimulate your body and mind and result in wet dreams while asleep.

7. I suggest tablet Pari (Paroxetine) 10 mg once daily at night for 15 days.
