Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My hair started turning white at a young age, around 21. My beard was black at that time. I am 27 now, and for the past seven years, my hair has remained a mix of black and white. Neither the white hair nor the black hair has increased or decreased.
I do not know the exact reason, but after those six months, my hair turned black and white and has remained the same since then. Now, someone has noticed one white hair in my beard as well. Is there any remedy or medicine that can make my hair black again? I want a way for the hair on my head to grow black again.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
The condition you are describing sounds like premature greying that started in your early 20s and then stabilized, which is actually quite common. When hair turns white, it is because pigment cells stop producing melanin, and unfortunately, there is no proven medicine that can make white hair naturally black again.
The fact that your greying has not progressed much in seven years suggests that it may be largely genetic or may have been triggered earlier by stress, lifestyle changes, or deficiencies such as vitamin B12 deficiency, iron deficiency, or thyroid imbalance when you moved for your studies. What you can do now is focus on slowing further greying and improving hair health.
I would suggest you follow these instructions:
That one white beard hair is not unusual. It is the natural next step and is not something to panic about. If it really bothers you, safe cosmetic options like trimming or natural dyes are practical.
Medically speaking, bringing white hair back to black is not something that can be reliably done yet. Focus more on maintaining your current hair health and preventing further greying.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer.
