Is it necessary to get full mouth rehabilitation immediately for a toothache?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from dental issues like a toothache. I consulted a dentist, who suggested a complete overhaul where he would extract around 15 teeth and perform a root canal on other teeth. Should all this be done within one month?

Due to some obligations, I would have to move out after a month and return only after six months or a year. Should I proceed with only the upper jaw treatment now or a complete overhaul is the way to go? Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

An X-ray of your upper and lower teeth would have helped to give my opinion. However, if your dentist says so many teeth cannot be saved, they may be decayed or periodontally compromised. So if you are away for six months at a stretch, then ask the dentist to perform treatment for teeth which is presently causing you problems. Then, later on, after you come back, complete the rest of your treatment.

Please follow up for further assistance.

Thank you.
