What is the reason for big thread-like rashes in the genitals?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have some growth in my genitals. They look like big thread-like rashes. I did a urine test for infections, and the results were negative. I have done a skin culture test which said it is a fungal infection. I have taken various antibiotics like Ceftriaxone, Augmentin, and Septrin. But there is no significant change. I am currently taking antifungal drugs.

Please advise.

  2. Any other sites involved like finger web spaces, abdomen?
  3. Any other family members or friends have similar complaints?

Patient's Query

HI doctor,

Thank you for your answer.

It is a bit itchy. I also have small rashes in my hands and waist region. My right finger web has small rashes. They form white scales when healed or scratched. There is no pain during urination or any other symptoms.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attachment (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is scabies. You can have a single application of 5 % Permethrin cream. Apply all over the body below chin at night. Have a bath the next morning. Repeat this application for one week. Take tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg daily one tablet at night after food for three weeks. Treat all the family members or friends who share a bed with you and wash all the clothes and bedsheets.

Thank you.
