Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Few days before, my skin got irritated. I thought it was natural. Last night, just after washing my face with facewash, my skin got red patches in the morning and I have itching type sensation. It looks very awkward. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Irritation and itching on the face can be due to seborrheic dermatitis, polymorphous light eruption, irritant contact dermatitis, and many more. It would be easier for me to make a diagnosis if I see the picture. Can you please attach your clinical pictures of the face? Any changes in the skin products such as using new soaps, new face creams, any history of exposure to sunlight for longer duration and history of travel to a new place can cause changes in the skin.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes. I will send it.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attachment (attachment removed to protect patient identity). There are few red bumps (erythematous papules) on your both cheeks, these features are consistent with rosacea. It is a skin condition where the blood vessels get hyperactive. Triggers for rosacea are sunlight, spicy food, hot beverage, exposure to heat, alcohol, coffee. Do you have a burning sensation when you are exposed to sunlight? do you use any new facewash, face moisturizers to your face?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes. I have a burning sensation when exposed to sunlight and it starts itching. I am currently using Candid antifungal powder after bath. I am not using any cream. The skin in my face is very rough and scaly and I am attaching close view of it.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your attachment. It is rosacea. Treatment includes Topmetro gel 0.075 % (topical Metronidazole gel or cream). Apply it to the affected area over the cheeks thinly at night. Photostable gel, apply it to the whole face in the morning. This is a sunscreen, to prevent the flare-up.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
