Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a married woman and a mother of a small baby. My doctor said that I am suffering from sinusitis. I have had a cold for the past ten days. My right nose is congested and the mucus is thick, and greenish. There is a sharp pain in the left side of my forehead and it hurts a lot when I wake up in the morning. I feel so congested. My doctor suggested taking tablets Combiflam twice daily, Sinarest twice daily, and Allegra M once daily for five days. I was also advised to use Otrivin nasal drops. Nothing worked for me even after five days. The only difficulty I face is when I wake up the left side of my forehead pains a lot and to relieve the pain I take Combiflam tablet. I have no sore throat or fever. Please help me cure this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. However, I have a few questions. 1. Have you been prescribed antibiotics? 2. Are you sure you have pain in your left forehead? Because you said your right nose appears congested, please be clear. 3. Do you have any history of nasal bleeding? 4. Did you have similar episodes or frequent sneezing before ten days? Kindly follow up with the answers. Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply. I meant to say over my right forehead region. My right nose is congested and the mucus is very thick, and greenish in color. When I wake up I feel fatigued and my right forehead region feels so heavy and pains a lot. This is my main concern. I also feel tired and sleepy after I take tablet Combiflam to relieve the pain. I use nasal drops when my nose is congested. I used to sneeze, had a fever once, and my head used to feel congested for ten days. I have not been prescribed any antibiotics before and I have no history of nasal bleeding. I do not sneeze and I have no throat pain or fever. I take the tablet Combiflam in the morning when my right forehead pain is severe, tablet Allegra M for five days, and tablet Sinarest LP. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since you do not have a sneezing history and no previous history of current symptoms, you are suffering from acute rhinosinusitis, which is a collection of pus and infection in your paranasal sinuses. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below, 1. Take the tablet Moxikind-CV (Amoxicylline and Potassium Clavulanate) 625 mg morning and night after food. 2. Take one tablet of Hifenac-D (Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, and Serratiopeptidase) morning and night after food. 3. Take tablet Pan 40 (Pantoprazole). Take one tablet on an empty stomach in the morning. 4. Take tablet Ebmont-AL (Montelukast, Levocetirizine, and Ambroxol). Take one tablet at night after food. 5. Use Xyloflo (Xylometazollin Hydrochloride) nasal drops, three drops to each nostril thrice daily. Take all these medications for one week. 6. Also, stop taking Combiflam (Ibuprofen and Paracetamol). 7. Do steam inhalation for five minutes, 2 to 3 times a day. 8. Avoid cold foods, citrus fruits, bananas, curds, and juices. All these things should take care of your sinusitis. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent. I hope this was helpful. Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply. I will start the medication today and will stop taking Combiflam. I take Combiflam when I have pain, body ache, and if I feel feverish. I will review it after a week. Just one question can I use Otrivin adult nasal drops instead of Xyloflo? Thanks a lot for your help.

Answered by Dr. Akshay. B. K.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I am glad to help you. Yes Otrivin (Oxymetazole) also does the same job.You can use it instead of Xyloflo nasal drops. Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
